so i just had a strange moment of headcanon.

where Blaine has always, truly, been the Blaine we know now. he’s always been the big performer, the smiling face, just like he was at the bottom of the stairs and all the way through Teenage Dream. just like he was at that table at Breadstix in The Substitute.

taking all those other moments in, the coffee scene and the confrontation scene from NBK suddenly seem drastically out of character. he was so very controlled, and so reserved and suddenly mysterious and careful. he didn’t feel like Blaine.

i have to wonder if, somewhere between the smiling and the winking and dancing of the song, and the moment he realised what Kurt was struggling with, he made a choice. he saw this person needed help, the way he once did. so he went to him at his school, and when he walked up the stairs he said “Don’t worry about it, just let me do the talking.”

that sounds like something a big brother might say.

maybe, say, to his little brother, going to a confrontation. maybe after someone had bullied him. had frightened him.

i have to wonder if Blaine saw Kurt needed help, and he knew that he couldn’t just be his usual dorky, grinning, silly self - he wanted to be someone Kurt could lean on.

so what if the first thing he thought to do, on instinct - was to be Cooper?
